We answer your frequently asked questions
Payroll tax regulation means spreading the employee’s income tax evenly throughout the year. The goal is to avoid a large lump sum adjustment at the end of the year, usually when the 13th or 14th salary is paid.
Example (Tunisia – in TND)
An employee earns 2,000 TND gross per month.
Without regulation: each month the tax is slightly underestimated, and in December the employee faces an additional payment of 1,200 TND in one go.
With regulation: the tax is recalculated and smoothed, with about 100 TND more withheld each month. By December, no extra payment is due — everything has already been covered.
This approach provides better visibility for employees and helps the company prevent complaints or disputes at year-end.
Onboarding: This refers to the welcome and integration of a new employee. It covers steps such as contract preparation, orientation, setting up payroll registration, and legal declarations.
Offboarding: This is about the exit of an employee. It includes clearance procedures, certificates, and settlement of final dues.
JML (Joining, Moving, Leaving): This is the full HR lifecycle management framework. It includes:
- Joining (hiring and onboarding)
- Moving (internal mobility: promotions, grade/category changes, transfers)
- Leaving (offboarding and exit compliance)
JML is the umbrella process ensuring compliance and consistency across all HR transitions.
In short: Onboarding and Offboarding are specific moments, while JML is the complete framework covering the employee’s journey from entry to exit.
